2012 Summer Rehearsals/Performances

It’s time to think about our summer rehearsals and performances. I have a tentative schedule that hopefully will work out for all of you.

Rehearsals: (All at First Baptist Church, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)
Dates : June 5, 12, 19, 26; July 3, 10, 17

Performances: July 15 (two nursing homes) & July 22 (St. Mary’s Catholic Church)

The theme of this concert will be American/patriotic. There will be some familiar pieces as well as some new ones.

I am so happy about how we have grown musically and in numbers over the years. I am looking forward to a fun and rewarding summer. It will be great to see all of you again.

I will let you know as soon as binders are ready to be picked up.

Rosewood Performance:

Regarding tomorrow’s performance at Rosewood: Be there by 1PM. The best place to park is in the parking lot to the right facing the home from Rue Fontaine street. There is a convenient entrance behind this lot. It is to the rear left. Once you enter, you will be just a few feet from the room we will be in. There is space to put our cases in a nearby area.

REMEMBER TO TAKE A MUSIC STAND WITH YOU.

~ 11/19/2011 Sectional: Second Violins ~

We will have a Second Violin sectional this Saturday the 19th at Tommy Benoit’s house. Give Mr. Benoit a call or email him HERE if you will attend. Remember to take a music stand and a pencil with you. We will start at 10AM and finish at about 11:30. This sectional is optional and will not be required for the perfect attendance award at the final performance. Good news for you chocolate lovers!

~ Saturday, December 3 Performances ~

Our Saturday, December 3 performances will be:
  • 1:30 p.m. – Rosewood Retirement Community

203 Rue Fontaine, Lafayette, LA
(located near Stuller Settings between Verot School Road and
Kaliste Saloom Road)

  • 3:00 p.m. – River Oaks Retirement Manor

2500 E. Simcoe Street, Lafayette, LA
(located off of Pinhook Road in Upper Lafayette)

Dress for performances will be your choice. That is, you may wear your LCSO shirt and dark pants or slacks. You may also wear some cheerful Christmas colors to fit the occasion.

~Christmas Rehearsal Reminder~

Our first rehearsal is on Sunday the 13th at 2PM at the First Baptist Church.
The other two rehearsals will be on the two following Sundays (20th and 27th)
at 2PM, same location.  The rehearsals will end at 4PM. Try to be there early
so we can start promptly at 2.

We hope to perform Ding Dong Merrily on High and the new arrangement of
Joy To The World.  The order should remain very much the same as in the
past, with some possible minor changes.  The order in your binder will
require little or no rearranging.

Remember to take a MUSIC STAND and a PENCIL with you to rehearsal.
